Failed Films LA showcases artist in all stages of their expressions and from all walks of life. We seek to celebrate those among us who function on the periphery and bring them into focus. We exist outside of the conventional art world standards in disorder to bring you a festival where you feel safe and encouraged to embrace the radical self expressions and wild imaginative antics you and those around you dare to share.
All of Failed Films’ festival profits will go directly back to our artists, enabling them to continue making work. Since its inception in Fall 2016, our events have successfully featured over a hundred pieces of art, carving out a much needed space for new work and emerging artists. Our goal is to become a sustainable quarterly event that is able to provide grants, resources, and an audience for local artwork with a non-traditional approach.
Submitting to Failed Films:
We accept ideas, installations, films, halves of films, quarters of films, bloody tampons in glass boxes, photography, and more! Send us what we don’t expect.
We are particularly excited by works produced specifically for a Failed Films event.
Every body, every expression welcomed. Priority given to marginalized bodies / trans / queer / fat / POC / disabled artists.
Whether your piece is complete or in development, all submissions must include submission form found by clicking "SUBMIT" button.
About the Fall 2018 Curatorial Team:
antone is a restless and faithful artist currently residing in The City of Angels. Through his art he seeks to disarm and encourage people to open doors for one another, chance as much heartbreak as possible, and become more vulnerable. He tells his stories through film making, writing, photo taking, illustrating, dancing, acting, performance art and flower picking.
Suzy Sounds is a Los Angeles based music producer and supervisor working with innovative and new artists across platforms. Suzy Sounds works for the freaks, the kinks and the weirdos to help them execute their vision and realize their potential.
Lauren West is a costume designer and collage artist working out of Los Angeles, California. Lauren sources editorials from mid-century to late 1970's publications including Life and Playboy magazine to extract and reassemble images focusing on themes of feminism, sexuality, and vulnerability.
With Failed Films she hopes to nurture and embolden emerging artists to be as shamelessly raw and uninhibited as possible, while creating a physical space for their work to come to life.
